Yes – this is another Spice Girls inspired recipe. I will not go into a defense of the Spice Girls here as they need no defense and I have previously covered why I do not believe in guilty pleasures. Yes – I chose their “Latin style” song for this recipe meaning I might be guilty of double appropriation. Regardless, this is one of my favorite Spice Girls songs and possibly one of my favorite pop songs. It has that cheesy but so damn catchy combo that makes for the ultimate earwig. I’ve always cringed at the “Chicas to the front” line (even before The New Wokeness) but if you can sit still while this is playing, you may need to consult a physician.

This is a VERY versatile spice mix. I first made it to season the cauliflower crumbles in Cauliflower Love Taco Cups. It transforms riced cauliflower and crimini mushrooms into a crumble that has the taste and texture of a Midwest Taco Night. It also works brilliantly as a seasoning for chicken, pork, or beef tacos.

You can buy this recipe (and support DIY publishing and this site) in the All You Need Is Rub / I Love Your Sauce recipe single available in Shop Of The Pops.

Taco Spice
2 tablespoon chili powder
2 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1 teaspoon Mexican oregano
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon Aleppo pepper
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

Combine all ingredients in a bowl. Mix with a spoon or your fingers to combine. Store in an airtight container.
