That feeling of Fall in the air fills me with stewbilation not only because it's my favorite season but also the start of Stew Season. Nothing better than a slow cooked stew on a crisp Autumn day filling the house with glorious smells. It's even better when it's budget conscious & meat free. This is a vegan mushroom stew that I guarantee even omnivores will love. All the deep rich flavors & vegetables of a traditional beef stew made with mushrooms. It's shocking how much this tastes like a beef stew!

The theme here comes from the last Who album I ever bought. It's the last great Who album & honestly the releases after were just pale shadows of their brilliant early work.

BLUE IS THE WARMEST TAKIS
I'm finally getting around to rebooting HEY! I'M SNACKING HERE! into a series of review articles with a possible zine or podcast down the line. I love strange snacks & want to share my thoughts (whether good or bad) with the world.

Kicking this off with my fave spicy snack: Takis. If you are not familiar, they are rolled corn chips that look like taquitos. They are also spicy as hell. This particular flavor was more BBQ than spice but packed a Snack Stunt secret: the coating dyes thing blue when in contact with moisture. That means blue fingers, tongues, & lips. Even more shocking, it - ummm - the dye survives the digestive track. Not the best Takis flavor but high marks for the limited edition color stunt. 8/10.

CARROT ON WAYWARD BUN
To balance yesterday's meat fest & celebrate a Meatless Monday Labor Day, I'm making these carrot dogs. Yes, CARROT DOGS. Glazed in maple chipotle & grilled these sit at the crazy nexus of kinda being hot dog-esque while retaining their intrinsic carrot-ness. Top with a simple pickle slaw & hot sauce for the perfect vegan backyard Grill treat! (Pictured with Cauliflower Soul Tots - recipe coming soon...).

This is the 2nd use of this Kansas classic but this theme is a strange slightly cheesy cover by Richard "Groove" Holmes. A master of rare groove jazz soul organ, Holmes made the bizarre choice to do an album of movie theme covers. Yes - "Carry On Wayward Son" was used in the Henry Winkler/Sally Fields film "Heroes."
