BOWLING FOR CHICKEN SOUP
After yesterday's events, we all need a bit of chicken soup for the soul. This recipe takes a day to make. A perfect reason to turn off the TV - ignore the social media stream - & fill your house with the glorious smell of homemade soup. A bowl of comfort food is exactly what we need right now.

The theme song for this is Bowling For Soup's "1985" & honestly I kinda sorta do wish it were 1985 again. I mean music was on MTV - Breakfast Club (the movie) - HELL after the last 4 years I even gladly embrace Reagan! 1hich is why today I'm preoccupied with 19, 19, 1985.

GOODBYE MR. DIABLA CHIPS
One of my new 2021 BGC projects is a revival of Snacking Here where I review odd snacks I find along the way. Today it's artisan chips from @barcel.usa. As they are the distributors of my favorite spicy corn snack, @takisusa, I had high hopes for these "red hot chili pepper" kettle cooked chips. Sadly, while they were perfectly fine chips, they were also basically a slightly spicy BBQ chip. I wanted the fire of Takis in kettle chip form. I got a slight better Lays BBQ chip. I'll stick with Takis from now on. 3/10

MF DOOM : RAPP SNITCH KNISHES
Learning of the passing of one my favorite producers & lyricists, MF DOOM, last week was the face punch of Dumpster Fire 2020 as I will never get the chance to find out what he would think of my Cooking The Album: MM..FOOD project. I started making recipes for every track in mid-2019 & got stalled when publishing budget turned into 2020 Household Survival budget. I'm 3 recipes from finishing the zine & hope to publish as maybe a fitting tribute to a brilliant artist.

This is my fave creation from the album. I replace the usual rat & stool pigeon of the traditional Rapp Snitch with a modified chopped cheese. I mean, if they are snitches you're definitely gonna have a beef with them.

For Christmas I made a bar burger. For New Years I got all burger fancy. More brilliant @fostersundry ground beef cook in a vintage cast iron skillet. Extra sharp cheddar, tomato onion jam (recipe below), blue cheese dressing, bread & butter pickles, & pickled red onion on a sesame roll. Completely & absolutely satisfying.

Five years ago I set this as my annual theme song. Never realized how much 2020 would challenge the thought. Not expecting anything from 2021 but as always I'll make it through this year even if it kills me! Happy New Year & hoping to do some interesting BGC events in 2021.
